India on Monday unequivocally condemned the air strikes by Pakistan on Afghan civilians, including women and children, in which several people were killed, and said it is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbours for its failures.

”We have noted the media reports on air strikes on Afghan civilians, including women and children, in which several precious lives have been lost. We unequivocally condemn any attack on innocent civilians. It is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbours for its own internal failures. We have also noted the response of an Afghan spokesperson in this regard,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to media queries.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week announced that it had summoned the acting Pakistani ambassador to Kabul to deliver a “strong protest note regarding the airstrikes conducted by Pakistani military jets”.

The statement condemned the attack and warned that “such actions are viewed highly irresponsible and will inevitably bear repercussions.”
